Predicados do Douro Palace

Casa da Música

Building designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, included in the initial project of Porto 2001 (capital of culture), located in the city of Porto, in the Boavista area. Concrete work, in reinforced concrete, with an area of approximately 25 730 m 2, took six years to complete. The inauguration was planned for ten days, the first of which took place on April 14, 2005, with a concert by the American Lou Reed and the Portuguese Clan.

It has eight floors, has elevators, but are the grand staircases that dominate the landscape. The concern with the luminosity of the interior is made notice by the grandeur of the windows that surround the building. It has two auditoriums, one large and one small (with 1238 and 300 seats, respectively), for concerts, eight rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms and VIP lounge for artists. It was designed to have a rooftop restaurant, which has a terrace overlooking the city.

It also has a car park, with three floors, for more than 600 cars.
